The beta-cells in the pancreas are responsible for Insulin production. The Insulin deficiency leads to Type-I diabetes while a resistance to insulin leads to Type-II diabetes. This test is used while trying to manage diabetes and can also be used to diagnose Insulinoma when used along with Proinsulin and C-peptide measurements.
